EVENTS Conferences

The theme for this year’s Convention is “The Power and the Glory”. At a time when many believers, like the rest of our neighbours, are currently going through a period of lack and discouragement, it is time to remind ourselves that despite all the circumstances of our daily living and current world conditions, as children of God, we can position ourselves to see (and experience) ‘the power and glory of God’ in our lives.

This year’s Convention will also feature several workshops/seminars on: Immigration; Marriage enrichment; Finance/Debt Management; Youth Empowerment (knife & gun awareness & developing the mind of success) and Entrepreneurship.

Bishop Wayne Malcolm

The Entrepreneur’s Pastor

They call him the entrepreneur’s pastor, because his ministry nurtures entrepreneurship and supports entrepreneurs.

You can also join him for free on Saturday 27th at the Crowne Plaza hotel for a half-day seminar entitled: Mis-education exposed!

Its based on his book, the Mis-education of the masses in which he will explain that modern schooling is, for the most part, a sales pitch! During those years we are sold a life plan. It’s a 40 year plan from age 25 to 65. It involves joining the workforce and giving your best years to an employer in exchange for just enough to survive. The truth is that an alternative life-plan exists but few people know about it. He’d like to share it with you at his event.

To register go to www.icancoach.co.uk. Look up the events page and register for the event.

Michael Kosmas is keen to encourage young Christians to enjoy their lives and maintain their sexual purity whether they are single or in a relationship at a forthcoming summit on the subject taking place at the Albany Theatre in Deptford, south east London on January 30 at 6.30pm.

Because Minister Kosmas believes the subject of singles and relationship sis a very important one for believers to grapple with, admission to this event will be free if people register at www.michaelkosmas.org before January 24.

This 23 year old minister and social entrepreneur is committed to living a celibate life in honour to God until he gets married, and wants to encourage other Christians to do the same. He said, “We live in a sex saturated society and it is so easy for believers to be swept along the tide that says that we need to be in a sexual relationship in order to be fulfilled and to be seen to be with it. Single Christians, no matter what their relationship status, need support in this area of their lives. The Singles and Relationship summit’ aims to address key areas of concerns.”

Urbana09

What is Urbana?

Urbana is the missions conference for North American students hosted by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada. Urbana 09 will be our 22nd conference. The first “Urbana” was held in Toronto in 1946. From 1948 to 2003, the conference was held at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Since 2006, Urbana has been held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri. Generations of college students have come to Urbana to hear about cutting edge issues in missions and to respond to the call to participate in God’s global mission. During the five days of Urbana participants will experience multicultural worship and drama, dynamic speakers, in-depth Bible study and prayer. They will also be encouraged to explore short-term and vocational opportunities as they interact with representatives from more than 300 mission agencies and educational institutions. Attendance at Urbana is usually around 20,000. Urbana 09 will be held December 27-31, 2009.

Steven Ford Music Symposium 09Pastor and famed producer Steven Ford is gearing up to host a music symposium at the University of Delaware in Newark. Called “Is your music department a ministry or a misery?”

The workshop is designed to develop future musicians and producers on the college level, as well as those just starting in the professional arena.

Ford has garnered years of experience within the industry, producing for artists including Fred Hammond, Richard Smallwood, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Maurette Brown Clark, and Pastor Donnie McClurkin.

Last Year Ford said, “For many years I’ve imagined what a blessing it would be for others if I could pour knowledge and experience into a bottle, package it, and offer it. Well, this is the bottle, the package, the gift, to the ‘Gifted Ones.’” He continues by saying, “This is the conference that you must attend. Come, share with me and my phenomenal gifted brothers and sisters as we pour out, and give you insight and instruction in music and ministry. Come be empowered, as we impart knowledge and experience that will enhance your ability to present the manifestation of your gifts that God may be glorified, and that lives be challenged, charged, and changed.”
