20 years of age, two independent releases, features on a MOBO award winning album, and number one on the Myspace charts for Gospel & Christian rap……meet Guvna B!

Guvna being am acronym for ‘Gods Unique Vessel Now Assigned’, is a Christian artist that makes influential and inspiring music. Living in and around the gritty and fast-pace streets of London, this talented musician aims to cancel out the negativity that has plagued this world for years. Constantly being labelled as Gospels Kano and the UK’s answer to Kirk Franklin, Guvna has already made a mark.

Guvna B’s exceptional hard work in such a short space of time was rewarded in April when he signed a deal with Black Grape Productions, the successful label behind MOBO award winning Yolanda Brown, and UK’s premier urban comedian Eddie Kadi.

At 18 years of age Guvna appeared on 2007 MOBO Award winners ‘G Forces’ album. He has also shared the stage with Grammy nominated and award winning American artist ‘Da T.R.U.T.H’ & ‘LeCrae’.

He has worked with MOBO award winners Yolanda Brown, Jahaziel & Noel Robinson and his story was shared with many in May 2008 when he appeared on the cover of nationwide magazine ‘Gospel Link’.

Along with being known for a remix of ‘Express Train’ with MOBO award nominees ‘Four Kornerz’, his television experience which already lists BBC, MTV, Sky News, Channel U, Revelation TV, OBE TV & BEN TV is rapidly growing and Guvna B’s message is slowly but surely reaching many across the nation. Choice FM, BBC 1XTRA, BBC Radio 3 and Premier Radio are all fans constantly playing his songs.

His debut album ‘The Narrow Road’ has showed his versatility and is selling well in leading UK outlets. Guvna B is a well rounded artist who not only makes good music, but makes good music with substance and relevant content. His stage presence is proven, performing in front of more than five thousand people at the ‘Festival Of Life’, and thousands at ‘GL Live’ to name a few. I urge you to watch this artist as he his destined for success!

The Urban Music Awards through IMG have helped build and solidify the UK urban music scene for over 10 years and several of the acts  nurtured by the UMA have gone on to reign top 10 in the charts. From Dizzee Rascal and M.I.A nominated and winning in 2003 to Alexander Burke in 2004 and not forgetting JLS being crowned ‘Best Unsigned Act’ in 2007. The Urban Music Awards has always been the place to find out past, present and future rising stars.

Jordan Kensington, CEO, of Urban Music Awards and IMG added, “This year, we celebrate UK urban music going pop. There is no denying when we launched IMG in 1999 to support one hundred per cent UK acts, there was hardly any awards show or platform in support for UK music.
