Cloud Ten Pictures, producer of the LEFT BEHIND films, has inked a deal to distribute the web-series format teen comedy, NIKKI & BABS: DOS AND DOUBTS.
The deal marks Cloud Ten Pictures’ debut into the cutting-edge webTV format, and continues the Christian production/distribution house’s push into new genres, such as reality television (INSPIRED AMBITION).

NIKKI & BABS: DOS AND DOUBTS follows Nikki (Dorothea Bauer), who is forced to spend the summer with her flaky, energetic cousin, Babs (Tiffany Ross). The girls deal with teen angst and personality conflicts, while embarking on a series of humorous adventures, touching on biblical themes and imparting life lessons. The show follows the mismatched pair as they grow spiritually, overcoming their differences to become “BFFs”, all while maintaining the show’s lighthearted, “Christian cotton candy” manner.
NIKKI & BABS was originally created by writer, director, producer Pete Bauer as a web-series for teen girls. “Cloud Ten’s feature films and documentaries are staples for our core audience, but cutting-edge formats like this are an exciting way to reach new, younger audiences,” explains Cloud Ten CEO, André van Heerden. “And a funny, sweet and sincere, faith-based program like NIKKI & BABS — is the perfect show for us to premiere in this new format.”

BET marked its one-year celebration on Dstv (the digital satellite television platform on which BET is seen in Africa) with a unique opportunity; an open call to its best and most talented gospel singers to audition for a chance to be on BET’s hit competition series, SUNDAY BEST.
The country of Nigeria enthusiastically answered the call as more than 1,000 hopefuls showed up to the Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria to audition.
Gospel legend Kirk Franklin was joined by special guest judges for the Nigerian tryouts Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell and British-Nigerian gospel artist Muyiwa Olarewaju. During the callbacks today, the guest judges will choose who will travel to the United States to compete on the third season of SUNDAY BEST. U.S. audition cities will be announced soon.

Britain’s leading gospel artist Muyiwa is set to reach a new and wider audience following his new appointment as judge on Sunday Best, the hit TV show which brings new gospel talent to the fore. It was first screened in the US in 2008 by its creators leading black TV network, Black Entertainment Television (BET).
Muyiwa will join the panel of judges for the third series, which will include gospel superstar Donnie McClurkin and presenter Grammy Award winning artist Kirk Franklin, when they travel to Nigeria in their search for new artists. Muyiwa will sit alongside them giving his verdict on the up and coming Nigerian gospel talent set to attend the nationwide auditions in the hope of getting TV exposure and winning a record deal.
The Nigerian gospel artist deemed to be the best by the judges will be flown out to America to take part in the Sunday Best final and compete alongside the other finalists for the prize of a recording contract with a major label.

Muyiwa’s appointment as a judge on Sunday Best is the second major project he has undertaken with the international BET TV network. Last year he became the first UK gospel artist and International artist to appear on BET’s popular Celebration of Gospel show, which was broadcast in the US, UK and Europe and Africa.
He commented, “I feel honoured that BET has asked me to be a judge on Sunday Best, a show which is broadcast throughout the world. It’s exciting to play a part in discovering new artists. I am looking forward to hearing the abundance of gospel talent that exists in Nigeria, and playing a part in shaping and honing that talent in front of a TV audience.”

An Oklahoma megachurch named LifeChurch.tv in a nod to its use of technology is considered the pioneer of the form. The congregation had already expanded to physical sites in several cities when in 2006, pastors launched what they now call Church Online.
LifeChurch.tv now broadcasts more than 25 online services each week and plans more. The services collectively draw up to 60,000 unique views weekly, although the number of new computers that log on for several minutes is about 5,000, LifeChurch leaders say. Broadcasts are listed in Greenwich Mean Time, drawing viewers from more than 140 countries.

LifeChurch.tv has even found a way to attract people surfing for experiences that are far from pious. The congregation buys Google ad words so that a person searching for “sex” or “naked ladies” sees an ad inviting them to a live worship service instead.
Bobby Gruenewald, a pastor who oversees the online efforts at LifeChurch.tv, said the goal is to move people into some in-person Christian experience, in church, a small Bible group or even a group that watches online services together. He noted that many people watch online and attend a local church.
But he said some people are so transient that they have little opportunity to join a brick-and-mortar congregation. In countries where Christians are persecuted, a Web church is often the only way they can be reached, he said.
Amanda Sims, 38, of Starkville, Miss., was on Twitter during Christmas Eve last year when a friend posted that he was watching a LifeChurch.tv service.
She logged on and kept coming back, soon offering to volunteer online. She now works for LifeChurch as an online volunteer coordinator, managing a team of people from across the world who help with online worship.
One new friend whom she and her husband met online is a South Carolina-based truck driver who started watching LifeChurch.tv because he’s so often on the road. When he drives through Mississippi, he stops in for dinner. He now volunteers for the site.
“It started out as augmenting my spiritual life, and it gave me a way to be in fellowship with believers I never would have met otherwise,” said Sims, who still belongs to a local church. “They’re like my family.”
