One of Britain’s oldest Pentecostal denominations is mourning the death of one of its key members, Revd. Simon E Reynolds, who died on 4th November after suffering a brief illness.
Jamaican born Superintendent Reynolds, as he was affectionately known, served in a number of key positions and administrative roles within Calvary Church of God in Christ (UK), which was started in the UK in 1948.
He last role for the church was as pastor of the COGIC branch in Tottenham, north London, a position he was appointed to in 1998 following the death of the late Bishop Bell in the same year. Revd Reynolds was also Superintendent of COGIC North London District.
As well as serving as Pastor and Superintendent, other positions occupied by Revd Reynolds during the 50+ years he served COGIC include the role of General Secretary, 2nd Administrative Assistant and pastor of COGIC Peckham. He was also a key member of the COGIC’s church Executive Board.
Superintendent Reynolds was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica on the 31 March, 1935. He arrived in the UK in 1954, and became a Christian two years later. In 1957 he married his wife Jean.
